Alternate Task Manager is a free program that provides the same functionality as the Windows Task Manager but in a more comprehensive and efficient manner. It lets you access all the processes of your system, providing in-depth information about each one and allowing you to examine processes in detail. One its most salient features is that it enables you to terminate one or multiple processes with a single click.
The user interface of the program is simple and to the point. From the Options panel, you can choose different display modes to arrange the processes list, and also filter processes according to different criteria, like process ID. There are three main tabs: the process list, process details, and system. The first tab lets you see which programs and processes are running, and the other two tabs give you more information about these processes, like how much memory they’re using, file creation date and time, among many other details. It is also possible to see the available memory and open the folder where a certain process file is located. Additionally, the program allows you to export data to TXT or CSV files.
The program’s setup file is less than one megabyte, so you can easily place it on a portable drive and install it on different computers. The setup does not include third-party software that installs alongside the program. Besides, it requires minimal resources to run.
Alternate Task Manager can be a useful tool for system administrators or users who are computer savvy and want to be in control over all the activity of a system.
